Past life regression has become a useful therapeutic tool for the psychoanalyst. Even those who have no belief in re-incarnation have found that the findings of such sessions reveal a great deal about their client's current life. After regressing many client's, it is my belief that we are not only conditioned by events in this lifetime, but also by residual energy from past lives. Past life regression can help us identify and eradicate the inhibiting residues of past lives and take us one step closer to freedom. As outlined in my book Whispers in the Dark: The Awakening it has become apparent to me that our current life's purpose emerges from a handful of past lives. When we are in alignment with our life's purpose, that incessant void that many of us experience begins to dissipate and a sense of wholeness tranpires. So, in addition to providing proof of immortality, past life regression is a valuable vehicle in which to explore and determine the very reason why we are on this planet at this moment in time.
Past life regression can aid you in gaining a deeper understanding of your personality, and help you determine your mission in life. Our current life's mission results from a culmination of past life experiences. You can identify your current life's mission by examining your past lives. Our evolution often involves growth in areas where we have succumb to fear in the past; our objective is to overcome and transcend these fears.
The idea of reincarnation comes from ancient beliefs. For example, the Greek Philospher Pythagoras proclaimed that our soul only temporarily resides in the body. He taught that the soul went through a series of lives, seeking to be purified enough to escape the reincarnation cycle. Reincarnation has been an established part of Druid, Kabalistic, Eastern and Gnostic teachings. The Christian church embraced the idea until 533AD, when the Roman council of Constantinople declared that reincarnation was an heretical topic and consequently purged references to it from Christian teachings. However, some references still remain in the bible. For example, in Mathew 16:13, Jesus asked his disciples 'Who do people think I am?' The disciples answered, 'some say you are John the Baptist, some say Elias, and others, Jerimiah.' These quotes reinforce the concept of reincarnation by their reference to jesus's pre-existence as other people; some of whom lived centuries before.
Scientists and psychologist have collected thousands of accounts of past life experiences from children; lives that have been researched and authenticated. Many of these children have birth marks or phobias relating to violent occurences in their past lives.
Whether you believe reincarnation to be fact or fiction, the fact remains that people who undergo past life regression often heal from chronic and long term conditions. Many people have fears and phobias which they can not explain and past life therapy has helped alleviate their problems. In addition, many people bring back positive experiences from past incarnations; experiences that, when uncovered, propel them towards their vocation in their current life.
Somewhere within us all I believe there is a knowing that past, present and future co-exist. Time, as we know it, linear time, does not exist. This being so, it is quite possible that we may have experienced lives in another domain of experience that constitute our future. The findings of modern science indicate that, as well has having memories of our past, there is absolutely no reason why we cannot have the same trajectory of the future. However, leaving this posit aside, progession is extremely valuable when it comes to determining the future we desire (or do not desire). To relay the beneficial effects of progression I have chosen an excerpt from my book:
'I wish there was some way I could have a glimpse of the future, just to see what it holds for me.’
Phil looked at her tormented face. ‘There is a way Vi,’ he replied.
‘How?’ She inquired, a sense of urgency in her voice.
‘Well, you’ve experienced regression; travelling back to your past. But there’s also a hypnotherapy technique known as progression that takes you into your future. But remember, our futures are not set in stone, they are flexible. We all have an infinite number of possible futures, but only one or two probable ones. These probable ones are based on our predispositions presently. But, as you already know, we can reprogram the software that drives us and create any future we want. Progression can be of great therapeutic value. It can reveal our innermost desires and aspirations. Conversely, it can reveal our deepest fears. But you must remember that if you enter a future that you find distasteful, you can change it. Our thoughts create our futures - remember those seedlings? Our futures are dependent on the seedlings of thought we choose to germinate, and we can choose from an infinite number of possibilities.’
Progression can unleash the contents of our subconscious or unconscious mind, to reveal the life we truly desire. Conversely, if we experience a future that we find distasteful, we can utilize our experience to change direction. As outlined in my book, our thoughts create our futures, and we can change our thoughts. So if a progression session reveals that you are heading towards a life you find objectionable, you can re-evaluate your current thought processes and re-write the software that governs your future. By contrast, many People who experience a positive journey into their future will often find that their findings actualize: The power of belief is such that they will it into existence.
